The Tax Increase Prevention Act increases the Section 179 expense limit to $500,000 for tax year 2014. The $500,000 expense limitation is reduced dollar for dollar by the portion of the cost of Section 179 property placed in service during the year that exceeds the threshold of $2,000,000 for 2014. This can also be combined with bonus depreciation and applies to both new and used equipment.
